Lee Ki-sang's hole-in-one led a 8-under 64 that propelled him to a one-shot lead over Anthony Kim after the third round of the CJ Invitational on Saturday.
The South Korean's electric round started with four successive birdies before an eagle-1 at the fifth hole helped propel him past overnight leader Kim. The American player started the day with a three shot advantage at the Haesley Nine Bridges Golf Club, but that quickly evaporated despite a 4-under 68.
''It was unbelievable. Whenever I hit the ball, it just kept going into the hole,'' Lee said. ''I tried to make a new record, maybe a 10-under or something like that, but my iron play after that was not good.''
Lee also birdied the seventh and 17th holes to take his overall total to 15-under 201.
''I thought he was playing a video game. I didn't know what was going on,'' Kim said. ''Every time he hit a putt, it looked like it was going in and most of the time it did go in. If he keeps it up, he'll be tough to beat.''
Tournament host K.J. Choi managed a 5-under 67 to sit three shots behind Lee on 12-under, while Thailand's Prom Meesawat (68) and South Korea's David Oh (69) were the next closest challengers at 10-under.
Four players were six shots back on 9-under at the $750,000 event.
