A Sydney golf club has been found guilty of sexual discrimination and ordered to change its tee times for female members, The (Sydney) Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

Susan Walker took the Wakehurst Golf Club to the New South Wales (NSW) Administrative Decisions Tribunal, claiming that it had discriminated against women players.

Walker demanded to know why players in the men's competition at the club had the course to themselves between 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on a Saturday while the women golfers were squeezed in between 8:45 a.m. and 9:09 a.m. on a Sunday.

Walker said there had been an old-fashioned attitude at the club and she hoped her court win would encourage more young women to play golf.

Golf NSW, formed last year by amalgamating the old men's and women's associations, said it would alert clubs across the state to the decision in case they needed to change their rules.
