Fine form in Portugal masters can be catalyst, says Richard Finch
Hull golfer Richard Finch hopes to use his superb form at the Portugal Masters as a springboard to guarantee his place in the season's finale.
Seven birdies and 11 pars saw Finch finish nine under par after a brilliant second round of 65, a seasonal low.
He hopes it will keep him on course to feature in the lucrative end of season Race to Dubai tournament, having started the week in 62nd place and knowing the top 60 golfers will battle it out for ?7.5m prize money.
"I slipped to just outside the top 60, and that gives me the incentive to try and go forward and get back in there," said Finch, who praised coaches Peter Cowen and Mike Walker for his overall improvement.
"That's the number one goal at the minute.
"I have a good few weeks to come where I can hopefully cement my top-60 position."
