Farr-Kaye takes over Arizona State's women's golf program
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Missy Farr-Kaye has been promoted to Arizona State's head women's golf coach.
Athletic director Ray Anderson announced the move Friday.
Farr-Kaye spent the past 13 seasons as an assistant coach and associate head coach under Melissa Luellen, who left the Sun Devils last week to coach Auburn,
Farr-Kaye helped Arizona State win its first NCAA title as a senior in 1990. She is a two-time breast cancer survivor. Her sister, former Arizona State and LPGA Tour player Heather Farr, died of breast cancer in 1993 at the age of 28.
''This is my dream job in every sense of the word,'' Farr-Kaye said. ''I grew up playing junior golf at Papago Golf Course. I graduated from Arizona State and won a NCAA title under Linda Vollstedt.
To become the head women's golf coach of my alma mater is the pinnacle of my career and I have a personal, vested interest in the success of our program. Our goal is to continue to bring home the national title, year in, year out. Arizona State has championship expectations and I intend to deliver.''
