Dustin Johnson played his first event since rising to No. 1 in the world this weekend in Mexico, and he proved that when he's on, even a loaded field can't touch him.
Johnson won his second consecutive start and his second event of the 2017 season with a final round 68. Johnson began the day behind Justin Thomas - who has been on fire early in the season - but Thomas played his first nine holes at 3-over par to fall down the leaderboard. Rory McIlroy, who returned from a rib injury, was in contention to start the day but managed only an even-par 71, finishing in a tie for seventh.
Johnson, though, looked unbeatable in the first half of his round. He carded four birdies on the front nine to drop to 15-under par for the tournament

Back-to-back bogeys from Johnson at 12 and 13 opened the door for 22-year-old Jon Rahm, who eagled the 11th and carded birdies at 14 and 15 to move into a share of the lead with three holes to play.

Rahm fell out of the lead as quickly as he moved into it, though. Back-to-back bogeys at 16 and 17 restored Johnson's two-shot advantage, and while Tommy Fleetwood played his final eight holes at four-under to charge into second place (which could earn him a spot in the Masters), Johnson had a stress-free tap-in par to win at the 18th.
