Dunlop Phoenix shortened to 54 holes

BY foxsports • November 18, 2011

The third round of the Dunlop Phoenix was washed out by heavy rain on Saturday, forcing organizers to shorten the $2.5 million event to 54 holes.

Organizers determined the course at Phoenix Country Club was unplayable and decided to cancel the third round Saturday morning. The final round will be held on Sunday.

Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano led Japan's Hideto Tanihara by one shot at 8-under 134 after Friday's second round.

Fernandez-Castano is bidding for his second straight win in Asia after winning the rain-delayed Singapore Open on Monday.
