Aussie Rebecca Artis leads Australian Ladies Masters by 3 shots
Australian Rebecca Artis shot a 7-under 66 on Friday to take a three-stroke lead over England's Charley Hull and South Korean Choi Eun-woo after two rounds of the Australian Ladies Masters.
Artis, a winner on the Ladies European Tour in 2013, had a two-round total of 9-under 137 on the Royal Pines resort course.
Hull, whose group was warned for slow play, shot 70 while Choi had a 71.
England's Holly Clyburn was in fifth place after a 71, four strokes behind.
Defending champion Cheyenne Woods, niece of Tiger Woods, had a 78 and just advanced to the weekend but was 14 strokes behind. Woods had five bogeys, including a three-putt on the 18th hole.
"I played terrible," said Woods, whose win last year was her only pro victory.
English veteran Laura Davies had a second consecutive 74 and was 11 strokes behind Artis.
Artis started with a bogey on the par-four 1st hole but made eight birdies from there, including four on her final five holes.
She said she'll go into the weekend in unchartered territory as the leader.
"It's probably going to be a little different feeling out there for me because with my win in Sweden I came from behind," she said.
Hull, the 18-year-old European Tour Order of Merit winner last year, said the time warning was "a bit annoying."
"We actually finished before the slot of time that they give us to play," Hull said.
"It was a bit of a strain because I got put on the clock and if I had have taken a bit longer I'd have had a shot penalty, so I was trying to rush. I've never done that before because I'm one of the fastest players on tour."
