Wiggins might race in Tour de France
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) Tour of California leader Bradley Wiggins says he wants to compete in the Tour de France in July, but isn't sure he will.
''I'd love to be on the start,'' said Wiggins, who won it in 2012. ''But it's about Chris (Froome) being confident in the team.''
Froome, Wiggins' teammate on Sky, claimed the Tour de France last year when Wiggins sat out. Froome finished second to Wiggins in 2012.
''It's very much Chris' team,'' said Wiggins, who has led the Tour of California for a week after winning the stage 2 time trial. ''It depends on who he wants around him.''
Wiggins, 34, the 2012 Olympic time trial gold medalist, is in his last year of his current contract with Sky.
Wiggins has a 30-second race lead over Australian Rohan Dennis of Garmin-Sharp. The Tour of California ends Sunday with a circuit race in Thousand Oaks.
