Zook moves from gridiron to bank

Former Florida and Illinois coach Ron Zook didn't enjoy the greatestest success on the gridiron.

So after coaching schools that featured the colors blue — OK, different shades — and orange, he's turned to green. Zook is now working for a bank in Ocala, Fla. Don't worry, he's not a teller or anything. You won't see his face when you need change for a five.

He's currently working as the bank's business development officer. Not a bad gig. Think of it like recruiting — something he excelled at as a coach — for the business world.

Zook was 57-65 as a college coach. He was 1-3 in bowl games. He wound up getting a $2.6 million buyout from Illinois after being let go in 2011 after the Illini started 6-0 and finished the season 6-6.

He's also a college football analyst. It appears leaving the sideline has done nothing to damage his quality of life.

“it keeps me busy,” the former coach said.
