Yale's rushing leads to 39-22 win against Colgate

Tyler Varga rushed for more than 200 yards and the final touchdown to cap Yale's 39-22 victory over Colgate Saturday.

Varga had 39 carries for 236 yards in the season opener for the Bulldogs (1-0). His total yardage broke a previous career record of 220 yards.

QB Henry Furman also had a strong running game with three uncontested TDs before the half. Furman finished with 4 carries for 60 yards and 129 yards passing before limping off the field in the first minute of the third quarter. He did not return to the game.

Gavin McCarney was a dual threat for the Raiders (0-4), putting up triple-digits in both passing and rushing. McCarney finished the game with 140 yards passing and 136 yards rushing, accounting for two of Colgate's three TDs.

The Raiders' loss marks the first time in 17 years they have started a season with a 4-0 record.
