The Heartland Trophy is up for grabs as the Wisconsin Badgers take on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The Wisconsin Badgers are looking to reclaim the Heartland Trophy to its rightful owner when they travel to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in a Big Ten West showdown. Wisconsin is also looking to stay in the hunt for a spot in the Big Ten championship game.

It will be interesting to see how the Badgers bounce back after a thrilling overtime loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes a week. One thing that will help will be the return of linebacker Vince Biegel who was missed the last two game due to having foot surgery. But Wisconsin’s defense has not missed a beat without him, ranking 12th in the country in total defense and 8th in scoring defense allowing just 15.2 points per game. As good as the defense is, it needs the offensive side of the ball to play at a high level throughout the rest of the season. Corey Clement finally got things going this season against Ohio State, running for 164 yards on the evening. The rushing attack is something that will need to keep rolling as the season continues.

But Iowa’s defense is not too shabby either. They are 21st in the country in scoring defense allowing only 19.1 points per game and have allowed 370.9 yards per game to opposing offenses. Speaking of offense, Iowa is led on that side of the ball by a two-headed monster at running back in Akrum Wadley and LeShun Daniels. Wadley has run for 592 on only 80 carries and eight touchdowns and Daniels is right behind him racking up 589 yards and six touchdowns.

This has all the makings of a classic, old-school black and blue Big Ten showdown with plenty at stake.
