Wide receiver Devon Cajuste hopes to come up big against UCF
Wide receiver Devon Cajuste expected 2015 to be his big, breakout season. After all, the fifth-year senior turned down the NFL to come back to Stanford.
However, the 2015 season has gotten off to a slow start for the big wideout. Cajuste struggled through most of camp with an injury. Even thought he was cleared to play last week, Cajuste was still held out of most of the first half against Northwestern. While he played in the second half, he ended the day with just 39 yards receiving.
When the Cardinal come out to play UCF, Cajuste's role in Stanford's offense should be considerably bigger, especially considering his abilities to stretch the field and make big plays in the passing game.
“Obviously, he’ll be our starting ‘Z’ (split receiver), but we love him in the slot," said offensive coordinator Mike Bloomgren. "We love that matchup issue if there’s a safety on him. He’s a target the quarterback can trust to go up and get the ball for him.”
