Watford leads Hampton to 21-7 win over Delaware State

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) David Watford threw for 194 yards and one touchdown and ran for another as Hampton jumped out to a 14-0 lead on its way to a 21-7 victory over winless Delaware State on Saturday.

Watford scored from the 27 with 6:21 left in the first quarter and then hit Rashawn Proctor on a 9-yard scoring strike for a 14-0 lead with 1:47 left in the first.

Neither team scored again until Oral Varcciann scooped up a Kobie Lain fumble and rumbled 83 yards for a 21-0 lead with 10:04 left in the final quarter.

Twarn Mixson grabbed seven passes for 72 yards and Chistopher Dukes rushed for 85 yards on 15 carries for Hampton (3-3, 2-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic).

Delaware State (0-5, 0-2) scored when Gilbert Rivera ran in from the 10 late in the fourth quarter. Rivera also threw for 183 yards.
