Watch USC football practice turn into an impromptu backflip competition

Published Jul. 29, 2016 2:54 p.m. ET

While there are plenty of intriguing matchups in Week 1 of the college football season, the single best one might be Alabama vs. USC. Take two of the sport's traditionally most powerful programs (one of which is the defending national champion), put it in one of the sport's most incredible cathedrals, and you've got a matchup made in football heaven.

On paper the defending national champion Crimson Tide appear to be comfortable favorites (they're favored by nearly double digits in Vegas), but don't doubt the Trojans. For one, their coach is plenty confident heading into the game, and it's not like USC doesn't have the athletes to hang with Alabama. It was just two years ago that the Trojans had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, and even despite turmoil around the program in recent years, they still have NFL talent all over the field.

And if there was any doubt of that, well, we got proof on Friday afternoon, when the video below surfaced of a handful of USC football players doing backflips across the practice field.

That includes Adoree' Jackson, arguably the best athlete in all of college football pulling off a triple back flip at the end.

It's incredible, although if you know Jackson's story you're probably not totally surprised. He is, after all, the two-time defending Pac-12 champ in the long jump, and a guy who made it to the Olympic qualifiers in the event this summer.

Oh and just for fun --- because what's more fun than watching Adoree Jackson being insane --- here's one more.

By the way, it's probably worth noting that Adoree Jackson also made Bruce Feldman's "freaks" list earlier this year.
