WATCH: Miles addresses how bowl game will help recruiting

Published Dec. 15, 2015 7:38 p.m. ET

LSU's current recruiting class is chock-full of extremely talented, versatile athletes -- particularly on the defensive side of the ball. There aren't a ton of areas in which the team hasn't accounted for up to the point.

The one glaring omission: quarterback.

The loss of Feleipe Franks to Florida certainly has to sting. Not only has LSU been plagued by inconsistent quarterback play for quite some time, but it lost a very good signal-caller prospect close to signing day.

Head coach Les Miles addressed the quarterback position -- and recruiting in general -- during his press conference on Monday.

"I think we can get (a quality quarterback). There's a couple of positions to consider there in terms of the quarterback spot and how to strategically play it," said Miles. "I don't want to go into that in depth, but there are some quality plays there."

While the Advocare Texas Bowl isn't the biggest bowl game LSU has played in in recent memory, the opportunity to feature in Houston not only gives LSU alums in the area a chance to see their team, but it also offers exposure in regards to recruiting.

"Being in Houston gives us great visibility for the state of Texas. It's regional news, it's going to be everywhere," said Miles. "That's big. Texas is very important to us. There's some Florida and Miami in there also. This bowl spot elevates our recruiting in the area."
