WATCH: Frustrated Va. Tech player smacks ref's hand after penalty

Emotions ran high during Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer’s final home game against No. 17 North Carolina on Saturday.

Down 7-3 midway through the third quarter, the Hokies were called for an offsides penalty and Virginia Tech defense end Daddy Nicolas reacted by smacking the hand of referee Ron Cherry, which of course drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and further damaged Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech would go on to lose the game 30-27 in overtime.
