Wartman in line to replace Hull as PSU MLB

Mike Hull left behind big shoes to fill, but Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop had high praise for Nyeem Wartman, who emerged from spring practice as the top candidate to replace the 2014 Big Ten Linebacker of the Year in the middle of the Nittany Lion defense this fall.

ā€œI’ve said this all along: Nyeem’s football IQ is off the charts," Shoop told the Scranton Times-Tribune.

He noted there is not a lot of difference in Penn State's scheme between the weak-side linebacker position Wartman played last season and the spot in the middle Hull filled, and the coach added another tidbit that could excite Penn State fans.

"There are some things he actually does better than Mike Hull," Shoop said.
