Wallace, D lead Johnson Smith past Davidson 35-22

Keahn Wallace threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth and the defense had an amazing 13 sacks as Johnson Smith defeated Davidson 35-22 on Saturday.

Jovantay Williams had 3 1/2 sacks and Anthony Allen set a school record with 17 tackles to help the Division II Golden Bulls go to 3-0 for the first time since 1982.

Jonathan Carkhuff threw for 464 yards to become career passing leader for Davidson (0-3) but he lost 88 yards on sacks.

After Davidson opened the scoring, Johnson Smith reeled off 28 straight points behind Wallace. Wallace had 368 yards on 22 completions, eight to Chris Patterson for 199 yards, in the Golden Bulls' first win over a Division I opponent since 1996, this against their county rivals from 20 miles away.

Carkhuff was 26 of 39 and had touchdown passes of 33 yards to Morris Williams and 61 to AJ Pignone.
