Wagner tops St. Francis 10-7 with strong defense
Chris Andrews rushed for 127 yards and had Wagner's lone touchdown pass in a 10-7 win over St. Francis on Saturday.
Wagner (3-8, 2-4 Northeast Conference) allowed a 43-yard touchdown run by Kyle Harbridge in the first quarter, but shutdown St. Francis (4-6, 2-3) from that point forward. The Red Flash generated only 144 yards of total offense.
The Seahawks got on the board with a 26-yard field goal by David Lopez in the first quarter and took the lead on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Andrews to Tyree Watkins in the second quarter.
Andrews was 10-of-12 passing but Wagner relied largely on its ground game. Andrews was complimented by Dominique Williams, who rushed for 95 yards.
Harbridge led St. Francis with 98 yards rushing. With the performance, he broke his own single-season rushing record and became the first Red Flash player to rush for 4,000 yards in a career.
