W. Kentucky player tweets, is suspended
Western Kentucky coach Willie Taggart has suspended running back Antonio Andrews a game for disparaging comments made Saturday about the football team's fans on Twitter.
Andrews questioned Western Kentucky fans' loyalty compared to their University of Kentucky counterparts and, two days after a 36-33 double overtime win over Middle Tennessee State, criticized those who ''said we suck and will never win a game.''
Taggart said Monday, ''Our policy is that you don't do anything that's going to bring a negative perspective on our football team.'' The coach says he doesn't ''mind our guys using (Twitter), but use it in a positive way.''
Andrews later deleted the tweets and sent an apology to his nearly 500 followers.
Western Kentucky (1-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) plays at Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
