Matt Barr threw for two touchdowns and Bryce Flowers rushed for two more as Western Illinois routed Valparaiso 45-0 on Thursday night.
Barr completed 15 of 30 passes for 230 yards, including touchdown throws to Lito Senatus and Josh Gabelmann. Flowers rushed for 128 yards and his two scores on 21 carries.
Caulton Ray and Gabelmann each added a touchdown run as the Leathernecks (1-0) rolled up a total of 339 yards on the ground in the season-opener for both teams.
A Charlie Jouett field goal rounded out the scoring for the Leathernecks.

The Crusaders (0-1) managed only 131 yards of total offense and fumbled the ball away three times.
