Video: New receivers coach Norvell has Texas-sized task ahead

BY foxsports • June 14, 2015

You don't have to be an advanced scout to know that new Texas Longhorns receivers coach Jay Norvell has his work cut out entering the 2015 season.

Released from his duties at Oklahoma as part of a staff shuffling following a disappointing 2014 season, Texas coach Charlie Strong quickly scooped up Norvell, who has a long track record of developing receivers.

The Longhorns desperately need Norvell to work his magic. Texas was the only Big 12 offense last season to average less than 200 yards passing a game. Top receivers John Harris and Jaxon Shipley are gone. Senior Marcus Johnson is Texas' leading returning receiver. He had 27 catches for 313 yards last season.

That doesn't mean the cupboard is bare. It's simply undeveloped. Enter Norvell.

Hear the coach give his take on the potential he sees in the receiving corps as we count down to the start of fall camp.
