Veteran Ohio State linebackers get scholarships
Ohio State announced Friday two Buckeye linebackers who began their careers as walk-ons have been put on scholarship.
Joe Burger and Craig Fada are both fifth-year seniors and three-year lettermen who have played in every game the past two seasons, generally on special teams.
“There is nothing better than to be able to reward two guys who have become among the heart and souls of this program,” coach Urban Meyer said in a statement. “They are leaders and they are among the most respected players on the team.”
Burger, a product of Cincinnati La Salle High School, and Fada, a Columbus Bishop Watterson graduate, both expressed their gratitude.
“Playing here at Ohio State has always been a dream and I can’t thank the coaching staff enough for allowing me this opportunity,” Fada said. “I’m ready to have one more really good year with this team.”
Added Burger, “I am blessed because of every one of you in this room and the coaching staff. Thank you. I work hard for you all and I have fun doing it.”
Both are on schedule to graduate in December.
