Vernon Hargreaves III named as a finalist for Thorpe Award
Along with Duke's Jeremy Cash and Desmond King of Iowa, Florida defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III was named as one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award -- given to the nation's top secondary player.

Hargreaves III is a big reason as to why Florida's pass defense ranks No. 10 nationally. Hargreaves III has accrued 24 tackles on the year to go along with a team-high four interceptions and two pass-breakups. Along with Jalen Tabor, the duo make up arguably the top one-two punch at corner in the entire country.
Hargreaves III is looking to become only the second Gator to win the prestigious award. The only other winner hailing from Florida was safety Lawrence Wright -- accomplishing the feat back in 1996.
