USC commit: If you're not afraid of competition, come to USC

USC had a strong showing at The Opening in Oregon, where the nation's most elite recruits took part in a four-day football camp.

The Trojans picked up two commitments in four-star receiver Trevon Sidney and four-start safety C.J. Pollard. But perhaps just as importantly, The Opening was a prime opportunity for USC commit Frank Martin II to spread the good word, and he challenged USC targets. Damon Sayles over at Bleacher Report spoke with Martin, who had another job off the field.

"Offensive tackle Frank Martin II tries to keep in touch with as many USC commits as possible," Sayles writes. "He also tries to sway as many USC targets as possible. It's because of this that he has an inside track on a lot of athletes.

"When Pollard and Sidney committed on Thursday and Friday, respectively, he admitted that he had an idea of which school they would choose. Martin said one of his jobs as a USC commit is to sell the program. He feels it's something he does well."

And Martin issued a challenge. He told Sayles, "If you want to play with the best, come to SC. If you're not afraid of competition, come with us."

So, who is Martin targeting? Sayles reports Martin has two targets in particular.

"I would love to see [wide receiver] Tyler Vaughns commit," Martin said. "I'd also like to see [LSU defensive end commit] Erick Fowler flip."

If Martin can get Vaughns and Fowler to Los Angeles, the Trojans might want to add "special recruiter" to his bio in their media guide.
