UGA QB commit Jacob Eason discusses Richt's surprise visit

Published Nov. 17, 2015 5:52 p.m. ET

All is quiet on the Georgia rumor mill now that Mark Richt have won his last two games and has the Bulldogs in position to finish off the year with a nine-win season and potentially a trip to a New Year's bowl game. To reaffirm his commitment to the future, Richt made headlines over the weekend by visiting quarterback commit Jacob Eason.

How did the five-star prospect react to being woken up by his future head coach?

"I saw it was Mark Richt, so I shot up,” Eason told 247Sports

The surprise visit went a long way to show Eason just how much the Georgia program and its head coach consider him a priority.

“It (was) really good, just reaffirming I am his guy, we just really had some talk, to see him come up here really meant a lot,” Eason said. ”He showed me what I meant to him. We also talked about what I would study, what a typical day was like for an athlete at Georgia.”

The quarterback made waves recently, as Bulldog Nation was concerned that Eason appeared to be in contact with the Florida coaching staff immediately following Georgia's loss against the Gators.

“I have been solid the whole time, lot of the media made up some fake stories, I did follow (Florid offensive coordinator Doug) Nussmeier because he had DM me a while ago, but it is not like I am flipping to the Gators or anything,” Eason said. ”It was kind of crazy, I am still solid to Georgia, they are not having the season they wanted to but everybody loses some games.”

Sounds like Richt didn't make the trip in vain, the future of UGA's quarterback position appears secured for several years to come.
