UGA interim coach Bryan McClendon noncommittal regarding his future
A new coaching staff is being assembled in Athens and only a few personnel have been officially announced. One Georgia coach still facing an uncertain future with the school is current interim head coach Bryan McClendon.
McClendon wants all focus to be on the team and its preparation for the TaxSlayer Bowl, however the first question the Bulldog head coach was asked following Wednesday's practice regarded his future with the team.
“It’s kinda all about the kids,” McClendon said. “Obviously that stuff will kinda take care of itself later on. Right now everything is geared around this bowl game.”
McClendon admitted he had not had discussions with Kirby Smart regarding any suggestions or coaching during the bowl game. Although when McClendon was named interim coach, there was one man he had to reach out to for advice - Mark Richt.
"His main thing was just to make sure that I think through everything in the aspect of how this is going to affect 125 kids and the whole staff, not so much what's best for five people or 10 people or anything like that," McClendon said. "You've always got to think of the greater good when it comes to certain things. That's the one thing that has been really eye opening, in that regard. That was his help."
