Tuberville slaps assistant coach

Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville may have been upset, but the displaced hat and headset of his assistant is probably far less worse than what Tuberville will face after a display of — ahem — emotion on Saturday against Kansas.

Tuberville was not pleased after his team got caught with 12 men on the field during a pivotal 4th-and-2, and he let graduate assistant Kevin Oliver know it, slapping the assistant’s hat and headset off as he berated him.

The verbal lashing continued as Oliver reached over to pick up his displaced hardware and put it back on. Tuberville will likely be hearing about the move from the NCAA, Big 12 or school’s disciplinarians — or anyone concerned with basic decency.

Texas Tech went on to win 41-34 in double overtime, so hopefully Tuberville cooled off after the victory.

After the game, Tuberville downplayed the incident.

''It wasn't anything to it,'' he said. ''It was just one of those deals where I missed his shoulder and ended up grabbing the microphone on his head set and pulled it off.''
