Tom Herman hires Rutgers OC Mehringer to join Texas coaching staff

Rutgers offensive coordinator and QB coach Drew Mehringer is leaving the Scarlet Knights to join Tom Herman's staff at Texas, a source told FOX Sports Sunday.

Mehringer, 29, will assume the role of passing game coordinator with the Longhorns. The Texas native played quarterback for Herman at Rice University and has previously worked under him at Houston, Ohio State and Iowa State.
