Texas had more than twice as many draft picks as Aggies
Since we don't have actual football games between Texas and Texas A&M to settle scores -- thanks, guys-in-suits -- the rivalry has to be stoked other ways.
Like bragging about the NFL Draft.
Longhorns fans will be happy to know that they can call, email, text, Skype, Snapchat, send a letter penned in blood, whatever, to their A&M buddies today with this message: "Y'all can't touch us in the draft."
Texas had five players selected in the 2015 draft, the most of any team in the state. Here are the Longhorns that were selected:
* DT Malcolm Brown: No. 32 overall, New England Patriots
* LB Jordan Hicks: No. 84 overall, Philadelphia Eagles
* S Mykkele Thompson: No. 144, New York Giants
* CB Quandre Diggs: No. 200, Detroit Lions
* TE Geoff Swaim: No. 246, Dallas Cowboys
Texas A&M had two players picked -- as many as Texas State. They were:
* OT Cedric Ogbuehi: No. 21, Cincinnati Bengals
* G Jarvis Harrison: No. 152, New York Jets
The Aggies have their reasons to brag -- more victories than UT in 2014, plus they won their bowl game over West Virginia instead of getting smacked by Arkansas -- but Texas wins the Pro Talent Championship Belt for 2014-15.
Here's how the other major teams in the state of Texas fared in the draft. Overall, it wasn't a great year for the state.
Baylor: QB Bryce Petty (No. 103, Jets); LB Bryce Hager (No. 224, Rams)
TCU: LB Paul Dawson (No. 99, Bengals); OT Tayo Fabuluje (No. 183, Bears)
Texas Tech: No players drafted
Houston: No players drafted
