Tennessee Tech overwhelms Cumberland 63-7
Ladarius Vanlier produced back-to-back scores of over 50 yards in the second quarter as Tennessee Tech overwhelmed Cumberland 63-7 on Thursday night.
After two first-quarter Tennessee Tech touchdowns, Vanlier doubled the Golden Eagles lead in a matter of minutes with a 52-yard touchdown run followed by a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown less than four minutes later. The special teams play was the longest punt return for a touchdown in Tennessee Tech history.
Tennessee Tech's Darian Stone ran for two touchdowns and passed for two scores to complement Vanlier's big plays and lead the offense to 505 yards of total offense compared to Cumberland's 179.
The Golden Eagles added four second-half touchdowns before the Bulldogs erased the shutout on a 5-yard touchdown run from Broc Loveless.
The win for Tennessee Tech was the largest margin of victory for a season-opener in program history.
