KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee defensive end/linebacker Curt Maggitt has decided not to seek a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA.

In an Instagram post Saturday, Maggitt wrote ''thank you so much for the memories the past 5 years Tennessee! I will truly miss everything about being a UT football player!''

Tennessee athletic department spokesman Ryan Robinson confirmed Maggitt had decided not to petition for a sixth season.

After Maggitt recorded 11 sacks in 2014, the fifth-year senior injured his hip in the second game of the 2015 season and never returned. Maggitt could have sought a sixth year of eligibility because he already had redshirted in 2013 due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
