It was all about offense in college football this past weekend.
Pittsburgh and Syracuse played the highest-scoring game in Bowl Subdivision history, a total of three FBS teams cracked 70 points and the all-time receiving yards record fell.
The total of 137 points in Pittsburgh's 76-61 win over Syracuse were the most in a major-college game, beating the previous high of 136 in Navy's 74-62 victory over North Texas and Boise State's 69-67 win over Nevada, both in 2007. That Boise State game went four overtimes, however.
The last time Pittsburgh scored 76 points was in a shutout of Temple in 1977. The Panthers, who rolled up 56 points on Duke in their previous game, have scored 50 or more in consecutive games for the first time since Tony Dorsett was playing for them in 1975.
Middle Tennessee piled up the most points Saturday, outscoring Florida Atlantic 77-56. The Blue Raiders hadn't scored so much since hanging 76 on North Alabama in 1927.
Navy, which won 75-31 at SMU, has scored 60 points in back-to-back games for the first time since 1917.
Individually, Western Michigan's Corey Davis became the career FBS leader in receiving yards, catching eight balls for 81 yards against Toledo on Friday to push his total to 5,068. Davis broke the record of 5,005 yards set by Trevor Insley of Nevada from 1996-99.

PUMPHREY'S QUEST
San Diego State's Donnel Pumphrey has slowed down in his bid to break Ron Dayne's all-time rushing record.
Pumphrey was held to 53 yards on 18 carries in a loss to Colorado State a week after gaining 76 yards on 17 attempts in a loss to Wyoming. Those are his two lowest totals of the season.
With 6,127 career yards, he needs to average 109 in his last two games to move past the 6,397 Dayne amassed at Wisconsin from 1996-99. Pumphrey will wind up his career in the Mountain West championship game at Wyoming and in a bowl.
IT'S A LONELY JOB
Navy has punted a total of two times in four November games, once against Tulsa and once against East Carolina. The Midshipmen's 24 punts are fewest in the nation. Interestingly, Navy has split what little work there is between two punters (Alex Barta and Erik Harris).
FOREMAN FOREMOST RUSHER
D'Onta Foreman of Texas wrapped up the season with a rushing average of 184.4 yards a game, which will hold up as the highest in the nation. Pumphrey is second at 159 yards a game, a drop from 177.9 two weeks ago.
TOP TACKLER
UConn safety Obi Melifonwu's 24 tackles against Tulane matched the national season high. It was the seventh time this season he's made 10 or more stops. Melifonwu's previous high was 13 against Cincinnati last year.
New Mexico State's Rodney Butler also had 24 tackles, against New Mexico the second week of the season.
MORE SCORE 40
A total of 17 teams head into December averaging at least 40 points a game. That's the most since at least 2000. Louisville and Oklahoma are tied for the national lead, at 45.3 points a game.
The per-team scoring average of 30.2 is ahead of last year's record 29.7.
