Stanford marching band barred from Big Game vs. Cal
BERKELEY, Calif. — The Stanford Marching Band has been banished from playing at Saturday’s big game in Berkeley.
KNTV reports Wednesday that since last year, the university’s controversial and entertaining marching band had already been banned from traveling with the team to away games for past offenses.
The university has accused the band of sexually explicit and offensive acts, hazing and alcohol and controlled substance violations.
Despite the ban being lifted for two recent bowl games, university officials say the band still had not made enough progress in addressing the concerns, the station reported.
The student affairs staff is now working with band leaders, and the group’s progress will be reviewed again before the bowl season begins.
