J.P. Douglas threw two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Southern University in a 30-14 win over Alcorn State on Saturday night.

The Jaguars (3-5, 3-3 Southwest Athletic Conference) scored the game's first 30 points, and held the Braves (2-5, 1-5) without an offensive score.

Douglas ran in the first score from 37 yards out with 10:11 left in the first quarter, and threw a 60-yard TD to Michael Berry less than three minutes later. The Jaguars' quarterback gave them a 20-0 lead in the first quarter on a 25-yard touchdown to LaQuinton Evans with 4:50 left.

Manuel Canto's 36-yard field goal and Sylvester Nzekwe 58-yard run capped Southern's scoring.

Alcorn State, which had quarterback Brandon Bridge dismissed from the team on Wednesday, had just 219 yards of offense.

The Braves scored on an 85-yard kickoff return by Terrance Lewis, and a 30-yard blocked punt return by Robert Gainwell.
