Dray Joseph had 288 yards passing and a touchdown as Southern scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to take down Mississippi Valley State 17-7 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game Saturday night.

A 22-yard field goal by Southern's Greg Pittman in the first half was the only score until the fourth quarter as both teams struggled on offense.

Southern (2-2, 2-0 SWAC) earned its second conference victory with the win over the Delta Devils (0-4, 0-2 SWAC).

Lenard Tillery's 5-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter broke the scoring drought to put Southern up 10-0. Joseph later connected with Lee Doss for a 60-yard touchdown reception with 8:04 left to give the Jaguars a 17-0 lead.
