Just reading that will probably have most college football fans believe that the Golden Eagles will simply play the role of sacrificial lamb in this three and a half hour prime time epic to the now high octane LSU machine. Truthfully, we see no reason to disagree with you. Southern Miss hasn’t really gotten over a 23 point shellacking at the hands of the Texas-San Antonio Road Runners, and now they head to Baton Rouge to trade blows with an LSU team that’s coming off of their most dominant performance of the season.

LSU undressed the Missouri Tigers in a 42-7 blowout victory. Coming off of their highest point total of the season, this team now has a week of the Orgeron system under their belt. They’ll only get more comfortable as weeks go by. They also already have the sting of two losses in the 2016 season to motivate them. This won’t be a team Southern Miss can sneak up on and hope to get a surprise victory. They’ll have to earn it. It won’t be easy. This is a program that has a history of being successful at home when games are later and the stadium lights are turned on.
