Shafnisky's big day helps Lehigh beat Penn 49-28

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Nick Shafnisky ran for three touchdowns and threw for three more and Lehigh pulled away from Penn 49-28 on Saturday.

Shafnisky completed 28 of 41 for 317 yards and carried 12 times for 71 yards. Troy Pelletier caught 10 passes for 123 yards and a score, while Dominick Bragalone carried 17 times for 96 yards.

Tied at 28 at the half, Lehigh (1-2) scored two touchdowns in the third quarter - a 6-yard run by Micco Brisker and Shafnisky's 20-yard pass to Pelletier - to take control. A 12-play, 97-yard drive in the fourth was culminated by Drew Paulsen's 10-yard touchdown reception.

Penn (0-1) was led by Alek Torgersen, who threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 86 yards and two more scores. Justin Watson had eight catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
