Bryan Bennett ran for a touchdown and passed for two more to lead Southeast Louisiana to a non-conference win over Incarnate Word, 35-3 Saturday.
Bennett took the Lions 66 yards for a touchdown on the opening possession of the game, finding Marquis Hayes with a 41-yard touchdown pass two minutes into the game, then found Jeff Smiley with a 17-yard strike to cap the scoring midway through the fourth quarter.
Marice Sutton picked off a Trent Brittain pass and returned it for a touchdown to put the Lions ahead, 21-3 at halftime.
Bennett was 19 of 30 for 267 yards for SE Louisiana (3-2) while the Lions amassed 463 total yards.
Brittain was 19 of 33 for 222 yards to lead independent Incarnate Word (3-3). The Cardinals were held to just 284 total yards of offense. They got their lone score on a 42-yard field goal by Jake Wilcox.
