SE Louisiana 38, Texas St. 28

Brian Young threw for 349 yards and Sam Fairley rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown as Southeastern Louisiana took control in the third quarter and ended a four-game losing streak by beating Texas State 38-28 on Saturday night.

The Lions (2-5) overcame Terrence Franks' 234-yard, two-touchdown rushing performance on 24 carries for the Bobcats (5-3), who had won five straight.

Southeastern Louisiana scored 10 points in the opening 5:07 of the third quarter to lead 31-21. After Latruan Weary's 1-yard run capped an 80-yard drive, Texas State fumbled the ensuing kickoff to set up a field goal.

The Lions made it 38-21 with 12:46 remaining on Weary's third touchdown, a 9-yard run.

Franks answered with a 74-yard scoring run on the Bobcats' next scrimmage play, but they got no closer.

Simmie Yarborough became the Lions' career leader in receiving yards with 2,417, surpassing Felton Huggins.
