Brian Young threw two touchdown passes and Southeastern Louisiana defeated Nicholls State 31-14 Thursday night in a season-finale matchup of the two teams in the Southland Conference cellar.

The Lions (3-8, 1-6) took a 31-0 lead after three quarters en route to snapping a three-game losing streak, while the Colonels (1-10, 0-7) lost 10 straight after defeating Evangel 42-0 in their season opener Sept. 1.

Young's 1-yard TD to Kory Theodore capped an 80-yard drive and gave Southeastern Louisiana a 10-0 lead at halftime. LaTruan Weary and Zeke Jones scored rushing touchdowns in the third, then Young hit Dean Johnson with an 8-yard TD.

Nicholls State, sparked by Chika Madu's 68-yard kickoff return, struck quickly in the fourth with Landy Klann's 2-yard TD run. After the Lions recovered the onside kick, Klann threw a 3-yard TD pass to Kenyad Blair.
