Savannah State beat FAMU 37-27 to end 24-game losing streak

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Nicholas Bentley ran for two touchdowns and Savannah State snapped a 24-game losing streak with a 37-27 victory over Florida A&M on Saturday night.

The victory was the first for the Tigers (1-3, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic) since it defeated Fort Valley State 27-20 on Sept. 14, 2013. The win also ended a 32-game conference losing streak dating to 2011, which had been the longest active streak in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Bentley's touchdown runs of 13 and 6 yards gave the Tigers a 30-7 halftime lead before the Rattlers (0-5, 0-2) rallied to trail 37-27 with seven minutes left in the game.

Savannah State rushed the ball 50 times for 217 yards. Arshon Spaulding, who ran for 91 yards on 15 carries, threw just 12 passes, completing eight for 83 yards.

The Rattlers lost for the first time to the Tigers after seven victories.
