San Diego 30, Valparaiso 10
Mason Mills threw for a career-high 327 yards and three touchdowns to lead San Diego to a 30-10 win over Valparaiso on Saturday.
Mills completed 27 of 35 passes as San Diego (3-5, 3-2 Pioneer League) kept Valparaiso (0-8, 0-5) winless this season.
The Toreros led 10-7 at halftime on Mills' 7-yard TD pass to Nick Scudellari and Stanley Shurson's 36-yard field goal. Valparaiso scored on Eric Lemon's 7-yard pass to Kevin Becker.
San Diego scored twice early in the second half for a 20-7 lead. Godfrey Smith, who had a season-high 10 catches, turned a short pass from Mills into a 59-yard TD three plays into the half and Shurson added a 24-yard field goal after an interception.
The Crusaders cut the lead to 20-10 on Mike Pando's 29-yard field goal late in the third quarter before Mills connected with Colin King on a 31-yard TD pass.
