Samson dreaming of scoring lots of points for the Cougars
The dream of scoring a touchdown starts when a kid first picks up a football. Everyone wants to be the guy holding the ball high as he crosses the goal line and scores for his team.
At the college level, offensive skill players get to experience that thrill the most. Defensive guys envision taking an interception or a fumble the distance. Even offensive linemen might get a shot at falling on the ball in the end zone.
But a kicker?
Well, let's just say everything would have to line up just right -- but that doesn't mean a guy like BYU senior Trevor Samson has stopped dreaming.
"Every once in awhile I daydream about scoring a touchdown, which would really cool," Samson said last week. "It would be great to experience the crowd going nuts. That would be awesome."
He knows, however, that the odds are really stacked against him.
"With my (liver) transplant, they'll never put in plays for me," Samson said. "It would have to be something spontaneous. But how cool would that be if the kicker scored (a touchdown)?"
