Sacred Heart scored three touchdowns on defense and another on special teams on its way to a single-game school record for points in a 78-35 victory over Chowan on Saturday.

Spotting Chowan (1-2) a 14-0 lead, the Pioneers went on to surpass the program's previous record of 62 points.

Sean Bell's 5-yard run put Sacred Heart ahead 15-14 in the first quarter, and the Pioneers led the rest of the way. The Pioneers rushed for 308 yards, 2 yards more than their FCS second-best average going into the game. No Pioneer ran for over 100 yards.

Following Bell's TD, David Berment returned a blocked punt for a score. The Pioneers also scored on an interception in the second quarter and two fumble returns in the third.
