Bryan Hilliard ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns Saturday night to lead Sacramento State to a 31-17 victory over Western Oregon.

The Hornets (1-1) rebounded from last week's loss at No. 25 Stanford with the help of two early scores from Hilliard, who carried the ball 23 times.

Western Oregon stayed close in the first half as AJ Robinson hit Demario Ballard for a 20-yard touchdown pass. Sacramento State quarterback Jeff Fleming ran for an 8-yard score and the Hornets led 21-10 at the half.

Fleming, who threw for 209 yards, found Chase Deadder for a 28-yard score to make it 28-10. The Division II Wolves (1-1) scored on the final play of the third quarter when Robinson hit Justin Ore for 52 yards, but that was as close as they came. Robinson finished with 266 yards passing, with Ballard accounting for 111 yards receiving.
