Saban: 'We had the team to win the last eight titles'
Sounds like Alabama fans aren't the only ones with incredible expectations for their football team, as Nick Saban joined the Paul Finebaum Show to discuss the recent failures postseason failures of the Tide.
“We haven't finished the season in the last two seasons like we'd like,” Saban said. “People talk about you won four national championships. Well, I feel like we've had good enough teams to win eight. So I feel like we failed four times. I feel like I failed four times.
"Now is that being ... too difficult? I don't know. I just know we had other teams that had the talent, and we weren't able to do it."
Saban wasn't only talking about Alabama, as his first national title won was during his tenure as LSU's head coach, but he's clearly just as disappointed as any that his teams have failed to live up to expectations in recent history.
Alabama will now have the opportunity to play spoiler to Ohio State this season, as the Buckeyes are the overwhelming selection to win the national championship. After finished with the No. 1 overall recruiting class the last five seasons, no one can rival the talent on Alabama's roster. With tempered expectations, it could be Alabama that ends Ohio State's dreams in 2015.
