'Saban' becoming popular baby name in state of Alabama

Published Jan. 7, 2016 8:27 p.m. ET

Since arriving in Tuscaloosa in 2007, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has accrued 99 victories, six bowl wins, three National Championships -- and 20 babies named after him.

Via a report from The Wall Street Journal, 20 babies in the state of Alabama have been given the name "Saban" as a first name.

Interestingly enough, there wasn't a child reported with the famous surname as a first name in 2015. Assuming the Crimson Tide come away with a title victory against Clemson on Monday, it wouldn't be overly surprising to see some "new baby Sabans" pop up in 2016.

One also has to wonder if this is a trend anywhere else in the country. Are there any babies named "Dantonio," "Patterson," "Ferentz," "Swinney," or "Harbaugh" out there?
