Ross falls behind on Sooner RB depth chart

What's going on with Alex Ross?

As expected, Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine will be in the backfield when the Sooners take the field Saturday against Akron, but the situation with Ross is curious.

Ross, an All-Big 12 kickoff returner, is not even listed at running back. A season ago, Ross started the first game of the year for the Sooners. He also averaged 6.8 yards per carry, but he's No. 3 on the depth chart behind Perine, Mixon and Daniel Brooks.

Brooks is a redshirt junior who has carried the ball six times for 26 yards in his career. Ross is was the team's second-leading rusher last year but may not be as good of a fit at running back in the Sooners' new Air Raid offense.
