Report: Todd Gurley on track to play in Week 1
By Larry Brown
Top NFL running back prospect Todd Gurley is on track to play in Week 1 of the upcoming NFL season despite undergoing ACL surgery in November.
Gurley, who is projected as one of the top running backs in the draft, tore his ACL during a November win over Auburn. He had rushed for 911 yards and nine touchdowns on just 123 carries prior to the injury and was a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.
Gurley did not allow teams to examine his knee at the combine, so he was asked back for a checkup. His knee reportedly checked out cleanly, and now NFL Media’s Albert Breer says teams have told him he has a “great shot” to be ready to play in Week 1.
This is just more support for the notion that Gurley will go in the first round.
We’re extremely high on Gurley and believe he is uniquely talented. Knowing this information about his knee would encourage me even more to take him early if I’m running an NFL team. This kid is special.
